Tips for taking your EZ Videos As with every form of photography there are tips and tricks which will help you to take better quality photos and videos. Here are just a few:
1. Light: Light is your best friend and worst enemy with video. Try to shoot in the mornings or later in the afternoon to avoid that harsh mid-day sun. Where sunlight is coming in directly through the windows, it is recommended to close the blinds and aim them up to avoid the wash out glare from the direct sunlight. Be sure to have plenty of lights on and a camera that does well in low light. Grey skies outside make taping inside very easy - no glare. But the outside is then very ugly. Sometimes it is recommended to the inside on an ugly day and do the outside when there's a nice blue sky to show off the property.
2. Tripod: Always use a tripod. When you are looking to acheive a floating effect then we recommend a Steadicam. They are available in different price ranges. A good quality Steadicam can be expensive.
3. Preparation: Make a checklist. Choose key features to highlight from your sales object. With real estate videos it is important that the property is clean and without clutter. We recommend that you turn on all the lights, light a fire and candles. Place fresh flowers on the tables. This is a video…motion is essential as well as good ambiance.
4. Panning and effects: When you pan with your video camera on the tripod it is important that you move slowly an as smoothly as possibler. Stay away from effects. Or if you want to use them use only one...less is more. Steer clear ofthe zoom in and out function. If you would like to zoom in on an object move toward it with the camera.
5. The video: Take multiple shots of your objects at different angles. Start from the bottom to the middle of the horizon turning the camera slowly to the side. The with the same settings start from the side and pan horizontally. In the case of a property video end the shot on a picture of the fireplace oder Cheminée. For real estate videos take shots from every corner of the room. Be careful where the sunlight is in your photo. Try to avoid direct sunlight. For outside shots take care that the lighting is not too hard. Morning and early evening is the best time for outdoor shot.
